How it works

The Investment Growth Calculator helps you estimate the future value of your investment portfolio by considering both compound interest and regular contributions. The formula used combines the effects of regular monthly contributions and compound interest over a specified period. For example, if you start with an initial investment of $25,000 and contribute $1,000 monthly at an annual return rate of 7% over 25 years, the growth is calculated using the future value of a series formula. First, the future value of the initial investment is calculated using the formula FV = P(1 + r/n)^(nt), where P is the principal amount, r is the annual interest rate, n is the number of times interest is compounded per year, and t is the number of years. Then, the future value of the monthly contributions is calculated separately and added to the initial investment's future value. In this example, the final portfolio value would be approximately $1,027,000, with total contributions of $325,000 and investment growth of around $702,000.

  • Start investing early to take full advantage of compound interest.
  • Regularly review and adjust your contributions based on your financial situation.
